RESTINGA

    Introduction:
    The restingas are the coast ecosystems that suffer marine influence with vegetation that is physiognomic different and that grows in sand soil, living with some factors as salinity, winds and strong sun.
    This ecosystem constitutes a specie of transition between dunes and small herbaceous vegetation and forest.
   Brazilian restingas are, this way, distributed around our entire coast and depending on the climatic variation, there is different grade of biodiversity.
    There are rich ecosystems in hydrical resources, because in many of their extensions there are lakes and small lakes.

    Flora and Fauna
    There is the predominance of small and medium trees, depending on their probation, as a rich flora composed by terrestrial big bromeliads. From the beach in direction to the country, the vegetation becomes denser, up becoming tress that reach 20 meters high. Where the soil is more flooded, the trees are smaller, having around 10 meters high. Distinction for some species: Tabebuia cassinoides and Hybiscus pernambucensis.
    Among bromeliads, distinction for: Aechmea nudicaulis; Bromelia binotii; Catopsis berteroniana; Neoregelia compacta; Neoregelia cruenta.
    The restingas are floristic mosaics, because there are many species that can be found in another ecosystems.
    The fauna is too rich, being distinct: Cerdocyon sp, Nazua nazua; Procyon; Mazama gouazoubira. Among birds we can see: Amazilia frinbriata, Spyotito cunicularia and Rhamphocelus bresilius.

    Sambaquis
    In this region there are the famous and sambaquis, that are deposits that were left by Indians that lived in the Brazilian coast three thousand of years ago. They are important archeological documents that provides the knowledge of the costumes from men who have lived in this region.
