Brazilian Legal Basis

    Environmental Education is juridically defined as “the process by which the person and collectivity build social values, knowledge, abilities, attitudes and competence related to the environment’s conservation, common people’s use good, essential de to good life’s quality and its sustainability”.
    Our legislation recognized environmental education as essential and permanent component of the national education, distinguishing with its formal character, the character that is not formal, the non-official environmental education that had been practiced by educators, people from different areas of activities and also entities, compelling the Public Power incentivating in all of its spheres.
    Doctrine also defines environmental education as the educational process of studies and knowledge of environmental problems and its interlinks with man looking for solutions for preserving environment.
    Environmental Education, besides being an educational process of environmental questions, also reaches social-economic problems, politics, culture and history by interaction of a form or the other of this ways of environment. Its application has the extension of helping in the citizen formation, in a way that exceeds the traditional learning, providing the citizen growth and consequently.
