CHILDREN'S RIGHTS
Introduction
One of the biggest social challenges faced by the developing countries is
to make compatible economic growth with social development, including in
this the welfare of the child, prove of this is the great amount that
lives abandoned at streets, without respect of their rights.
Which are these rights? They are many, let us see.
After years of studies finally the Convention of Children Rights of ONU
was instituted in 02,09,90, which was ratified by 176 countries, including
Brazil (1993). Among its principles we detach the following ones: to
satisfy child’s basic necessities, to protect them of the scanning and
cruelty and to propitiate the chances to them of adjusting to the society,
integrating it.
By its turn Brazilian Federal Constitution, article 203, guarantees to the
child the social assistance and article 227 imposes having the family, the
society and the State to assure the right to them of life, health,
education, leisure, culture etc.
We still have the Statute of the
Child and the Adolescent (Law 8.069/90), that propitiates and allows to
fulfill the devices of the cited Convention and our Federal Constitution,
but for it happening is necessary that we acquire knowledge of the
importance of the protection of the child and always to remember that
child also has rights.
